The gynecologist, born in Paso de los Toros and based in Durazno, didn’t retire to rest with nothing to show for it: he will pay with his own funds for the construction of the future Teletón Center in Durazno, which will cost around 3,5 million dollars.
The municipal government donated the land, across from the bus terminal, and its proximity was a condition he himself stipulated: children and their families from other departments should be able to get there without difficulty. The center is expected to serve around 1.000 registered users.
This isn’t his first gesture of this kind. In August, he donated all the equipment from his practice, including an ultrasound machine, to the Hospital de Paso de los Toros. In 2020, he donated ophthalmology equipment to Hospital Emilio Penza, making it possible to reopen a service that had been inactive since 2018.
Today, that outpatient clinic bears his name. Construction is expected to begin in mid-January 2027, and he hopes to have it completed before the end of that year.
